The Center for Mental Health Promotion

The Center for Mental Health Promotion (CMHP) uses a strengths-based lens to work collaboratively with communities to conduct research, provide training, and disseminate resources related to mental health.

Welcome to The CMHP! Areas of focus vary over time based on funding and community input, but our strengths-based approach to this work remains consistent. Our goal is to help create more inclusive environments that help people live the life they value.

The CMHP is housed within the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice at Utah State University. The Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice is Utah’s federally designated
University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). The IDRPP was established in 1972 by Dr. Marvin Fifield and was the first UCEDD program in the nation to focus on the educational and social needs of children with disabilities. Over its 50-year history, the Institute has grown into one of the largest UCEDD programs in the nation and is recognized as a pioneer in research, training, technical assistance, and services for children and adults with disabilities, families, and the professionals who serve them.
